Course Description: This course provides an overview of the financial system. The roles of financial intermediaries, financial markets, financial institutions, and central banks are discussed in the context of global economy. In addition, Student will study the structure of financial markets and examine the international financial system, discussion the completion issues among the financial industry. | ||||
Course learning outcomes: 1. Examine the role of the financial system in the economy. 2. Demonstrate an awareness of the variety of financial instruments. 3. Demonstrate the connection between interest rates and asset prices. 4. Compare and contrast the role of and function of organised financial markets and financial intermediaries. 5. Discuss implications of the efficient market hypothesis for the allocation of funds. 6. Examine the rationale for financial intermediation. 7. Discuss the reasons for diversification in the financial institutions industry. |
